| Winnipeg – August 31, 2010 – Trading was light and choppy on the ICE futures Canada platform to 10:45 CDT on Tuesday, as the delayed harvest in western Canada was producing very few sellers.
A trader said that with not a lot of product coming to the elevator, which has been weakening the cash market. He also said spreading activity was widening. Rains over the weekend across the prairies slowed harvest operations, and the market is expected to remain rather quiet until harvest conditions improve so the crop can come off, the trader said. The trader went on to say there was little to no demand from exporters. Soybeans on the Chicago Board of Trade were narrowly mixed at midsession, providing little direction for canola. At 10:45 CDT, there had been about 3,500 canola contracts sold. Western barley futures were untraded and unchanged at midsession. Prices in Canadian dollars per metric ton at 10:45 CDT: |
