– Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have killed at least 26 Palestinians over the past day, including nine children, according to reports. Meanwhile, hundreds of rockets fired by Gaza militants into Israel killed two Israeli civilians. Tensions between Palestinians and Israel have escalated in recent weeks, with Israel’s military reportedly widening its campaign. However, Egypt is also said to be working on brokering a ceasefire.

– A rare school shooting in Russia left seven children and a teacher dead in the city of Kazan in Tatarstan. A 19-year old suspect, believed to have been a former student of the school, was detained. Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a review of the country’s gun laws.

– A United States Coast Guard ship fired 30 warning shots at vessels from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy in the Strait of Hormuz after the ships came to close, according to a report from the Pentagon. Iran maintains that its boats maintained the legal distance away from the U.S. and derided the U.S. actions as ‘reckless’ and ‘unprofessional.’
