Global Markets: Cdn building permits up fourth straight month

WINNIPEG, Feb. 6 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– The value of Canadian building permits rose for the fourth consecutive month in December, increasing by 6.0 per cent to hit C$8.8 billion, according to a report from Statistics Canada. The increase was largely due to increases in multi-family dwelling and commercial building intentions.

– United States President Donald Trump will meet with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un in Vietnam at the end of February. Trump announced the two-day summit while giving his State of the Union speech Tuesday evening.

– China’s Huawei Technologies will likely be banned from Canada’s 5G network, according to security and telecommunications experts. The country’s 5G network is still being developed, and will increase the speed of mobile communications from the current 4G(LTE) network.
