Global markets: CDN economic info slated for release

WINNIPEG, April 10 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.

– Market watchers are waiting for several key pieces of information this week.

The Bank of Canada is set to release its latest monetary policy report and interest rate decision on Wednesday, which will sway the Canadian dollar.

The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers is also slated to meet this week, and information about the country’s production moving forward and its role in the global marketplace is likely to emerge following those discussions.

– Lumber production rose 19.5 per cent in January, with sawmills producing 5.8 million cubic metres of lumber.

Production was 5.2 per cent higher than January 2016, Statistics Canada said in a report on Monday.
