By MarketsFarm

WINNIPEG, Nov. 30 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Canadian Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland is scheduled to unveil the federal government’s latest fiscal update at 3 pm Central on Monday. It’s reported to include additional spending measures on the country’s hardest hit industries such as air travel and hospitality, among other sectors. It’s also said there is to be assistance for long-term care facilities to help halt the spread of COVID-19, support to help women return to work, and infrastructure money for green projects. The government last introduced an actual budget in March 2019.

– Farmers in India entered their fifth day of mass protests outside of New Delhi on Monday. They are upset with the agricultural deregulation being carried out by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government now permits farmers to sell their goods across India rather than to government-regulated wholesale markets. Farmers are worried such measures will spell the end of guaranteed minimum support prices for wheat, rice and other crops. Modi said the changes are to boost farm incomes and reduce the amounts lost to wastage.

– Slain Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was laid to rest following a funeral at the country’s defence headquarters in Tehran on Monday. Fakhrizadeh, who headed Iran’s nuclear program, was assassinated on Friday in an attack on his car. Iran has accused Israel of masterminding the assassination and vowed revenge. The Israeli government put all of its embassies on high alert, but didn’t comment further on the matter.
