USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News – Compared to the prior trading period, organic trades limited on light demand.
Forward contract activity moderate on 2016 organic corn with delivery periods from harvest to the end of the 2nd quarter 2017 8.00 to 9.75 delivered, mostly 8.75 to 9.25. Trade on food grade corn inactive. Feed grade corn traded mostly 8.00 to 10.00 dollars per bushel delivered elevator on limited trades.
Trade on food grade soybeans inactive with few forward contracts. Feed grade soybeans traded slightly lower on limited trades. Trade activity on soybean meal too limited to trend, but steady undertones noted. Trade activity on roasted soybeans, and soybean oil too limited to trend.
Trade activity on oats and barley too limited to trend, but steady undertones noted. Trade activity on HRS and SRW wheat too limited to trend. HRW wheat traded steady to slightly lower.
Organic import volumes are impacting the spot market on feed grade corn and food grade soybeans.
The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) National Crop progress report for week ending April, 10, 2016 reports corn planted 4 per cent, sorghum planted 15 per cent, oats planted 38 per cent oats emerged 26 per cent, winter wheat headed 4 per cent, spring wheat planted 13 per cent, and barley planted 19 per cent.
