Ukrainian harrow maker enters Prairie market

Lozova's Ducat 9 disc harrow.

Lozova Machinery, a Ukrainian tillage and seeding equipment maker, brought its Ducat brand of compact disc harrows to Ag in Motion with the goal of expanding its reach westward in the Canadian market.

The Ducat line includes “a dozen” models ranging in working width from 2.5 to 16.75 metres with 20 to 134 hardened boron steel 566-mm-diameter discs.

The Ducat unit presented at Ag in Motion offered a six-metre working width and a universal cage roller for “optimal soil packing and crumbling (which) creates an even seedbed for good yields.”

Lozova, which has made the Ducat line since 2009, said it offers five different types of rollers — cage, packing tooth, double U, rubber and pack ring — for “various field conditions and cultivation types.”

“It only took several seasons for Lozova Machinery to gain a favourable reputation among the Eastern Canadian farmers,” the company said in a release, and its machinery “is highly appreciated by farmers from Ontario and Quebec.”

With farmers also interested in tooth and drag harrows, subsoilers and cultivators. Lozova said, the company “is soon going to expand its product range in (North) America.”
