U.S. livestock: Cattle, hogs lower on Monday

Live and fed cattle futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were lower on Monday,
The June live cattle contract lost 1.20 cents at 203.650 cents per pound as it pulled lower on profit-taking.
May feeder cattle futures stepped back 0.675 of a cent at 284.500 cents per pound.
The USDA reported wholesale boxed beef prices were higher on Monday afternoon, with choice boxes up $2.44 at $335.26 per hundredweight while select boxes added $1.33 at $320.01.
Lean hog prices were mostly lower on Monday. The June contract gave up a half cent at 92.275 cents per pound.
The USDA issued its agricultural prices report for February, which showed the prices received index is up 22 per cent from a year ago at 147.1. The February livestock production index climbed 37 per cent at 193.7 from the previous February.
