Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, September 22 – The Canadian dollar weakened against
its US counterpart Tuesday morning as crude oil prices lost ground.
At 8:40 a.m. CDT the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7538 or C$1.3266
which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7550, or
C$1.3245.
Light Sweet crude Oil (WTI) futures lost $1.22 and $1.23 per
tonne in the October and November contracts at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.
In Canadian domestic data, natural gas sales totalled 5.1
billion cubic metres in July, up 1.5 per cent from July 2014,
Statistics Canada said in a report on Tuesday.
According to StatsCan, total sales in July were 3.9 per cent
higher compared with the previous month.
The TSX was weaker in early activity, down 227 points at 8:40
a.m. CDT to sit at 13,552.44.
