Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, December 30 The Canadian dollar weakened against its US counterpart on Wednesday, as crude oil futures handed back gains.

At 8:40 a.m. CST the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7193 or C$1.3902 which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7234, or C$1.3823.

At 8:40 a.m., New York Mercantile crude oil futures had lost US$0.73 to sit at US$37.14 a barrel.

There was no significant economic data released by Statistics Canada on Wednesday.

The TSX was weaker in early activity, down 20.00 points at 8:40 a.m. CST to sit at 13,225.75.
