Canadian dollar and business outlook

WINNIPEG, February 26 The Canadian dollar strengthened against its US counterpart on Friday, as crude oil futures gained ground.

At 8:40 a.m. CST the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7398 or C$1.3517 which compares with Thursday’s North American close of US$0.7385, or C$1.3541.

At 8:40 a.m. New York mercantile crude oil futures had gained US$1.09 per barrel to sit at US$34.16.

There was no significant economic data released by Statistics Canada on Friday.

The TSX was stronger in early activity, up 90.80 points at 8:40 a.m. CST to sit at 12,844.40.
