Canadian Financial Close: C$ holds steady

WINNIPEG, Oct. 27 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar was held near unchanged on Thursday, showing little direction in thin and choppy activity.
The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7470 or US$1=C$1.3387, which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7473, or US$1=C$1.3382.
Gains in crude oil did provide some underlying support for the Canadian currency throughout the session. News of a resolution to an impasse that had threatened to derail the Canada/EU trade deal was also supportive.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was stronger on Thursday, gaining 26.19 points, or 0.2%, to close at 14,833.75.
