Canadian Financial Close: C$ steady Wednesday

Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm — The Canadian dollar held near unchanged on Wednesday after seeing large moves earlier in the week.

The Canadian dollar settled at US$0.6959 or US$1=C$1.4369 on Wednesday, which compares with Tuesday’s close of US$0.6961 or US$1=C$1.4366.

Canada’s Industrial Product Price Index rose 0.2 per cent in December compared to the previous month, while the Raw Materials Price Index was up 1.3 per cent, reported Statistics Canada. The IPPI increased 4.1 per cent on the year and the RMPI was up 9.1 per cent on an annual basis.

Crude oil softened, with West Texas crude oil down 0.58 per cent at US$75.39 per barrel.
The TSX Composite Index gained 29.87 points to close at 25,311.50 points.
