Canadian Financial Close: C$ strengthens

WINNIPEG, Sept. 1 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar was stronger on Thursday, seeing a modest correction after recent weakness relative to its US counterpart.

The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7642 or US$1=C$1.3086, which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7624, or US$1=C$1.3116.

The strength in the Canadian dollar came despite losses in crude oil.

Positioning ahead of Friday’s US jobs data was a feature in the currency markets.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index was stronger on Thursday, gaining 85.96 points, or 0.59%, to close at 14,683.91.
