Canadian Financial Close: C$ weakens

WINNIPEG, Dec. 22 (MarketsFarm) – The Canadian dollar was slightly weaker on Thursday, in what analysts described as a ‘risk-off’ move ahead of the holidays.

The Canadian dollar settled at US$0.7323 or US$1=C$1.3656 on Thursday, which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7346 or US$1=C$1.3612.

West Texas Intermediate retreated from earlier gains, down by 0.05 per cent at US$78.24 per barrel.

The TSX Composite Index was weaker, losing 221.44 points or 1.13 per cent to close at 19,349.66 points.
