Canadian Financial Close: Loonie, crude oil slightly decline
Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm – The Canadian dollar moved downward once again on Wednesday.
The loonie closed at US$0.6974 or US$1=C$1.4339, compared to US$0.6999 or US$1=C$1.4287 on Tuesday. The U.S. Dollar Index gained 0.20 of a point at 106.51.
Crude oil was slightly lower on Wednesday after the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported a decline in stockpiles. Brent crude oil dropped US$0.29 at US$72.73 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate retreated US$0.13 at US$68.8/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index gained 124.38 points at 25,328.36.
Gold rose $14.00 per ounce at US$2,932.80.
