Canadian Financial Close: Loonie down, crude oil drops
Glacier FarmMedia MarketsFarm – The Canadian dollar slipped a little on Thursday.
The loonie was at US$0.7422 or US$1=C$1.3474, compared to US$0.7428 or US$1=C$1.3462 on Wednesday. The United States Dollar Index declined 0.34 of a point at 100.57.
Crude oil fell once again on Thursday after Saudi Arabia announced it will increase output and abandon its target for US$100 per barrel oil. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) lost US$2.28 at US$67.41 per barrel. Brent crude oil dropped US$2.15 at US$71.31/barrel.
The TSX Composite Index gained 127.95 points at 24,033.83.
Gold added US$9.70 at US$2,694.40 per ounce.
