Canadian Financial Close: Loonie flat ahead of Yellen speech

WINNIPEG, August 25 – The Canadian dollar finished little
changed against its US counterpart, as investors waited to hear
a speech on Friday from US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen.
The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7736 or US$1=C$1.2926,
which compares with Wednesday’s close of US$0.7734, or
US$1=C$1.2930.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index ticked higher on the back of
advances in the mining sector.
Losses in gold limited the gains.
The index rose 4.48 points, or 0.03%, to close at
14,630.72.
Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:
AGT Food and Ingredients—–up $ 0.75 at $ 36.91
Agrium Incorporated———-dn $ 0.40 at $117.84
Buhler Industries————– $ 0.00 at $ 4.76
Maple Leaf Foods————-dn $ 0.08 at $ 28.91
Potash Corp. of Sask———dn $ 0.16 at $ 21.31
