Canadian Financial Close: Loonie up, crude oil jumps

The loonie closed at US$0.7416 or US$1=C$1.3484, compared to US$0.7411 or US$1=C$1.3493 on Thursday. The United States Dollar Index was down 0.01 of a point at 104.29.
Crude oil prices rose on Friday amidst tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude oil increased US$0.41 at US$83.27 per barrel. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) jumped US$1.13 at US$79.16/barrel.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index was up 32.92 points at 21,225.61.
Gold gained US$10.30 at US$2,025.20 per ounce.
