Canadian Financial Close: New highs for TSX, gold
The Canadian dollar was relatively steady on Wednesday.
The loonie closed at US$0.7250 or US$1=C$1.3794, compared to US$0.7252 or US$1=C$1.3789 on Tuesday.
The United States Dollar Index was down 0.24 of a point at 98.15.
Crude oil prices fell on Wednesday after reports suggested OPEC+ could decide at its meeting on Sunday to raise output in October.
West Texas Intermediate fell US$1.6 per barrel at US$63.94. Brent crude oil lost US$1.59/barrel at US$67.55.
The TSX/S&P Composite Index reached another all-time high of 28,761.92 points today before closing at 28,751.36, up 135.74 points from Tuesday.
Gold also reached a new record peak of US$3,640.10 per ounce on Wednesday, before coming down to US$3,622.40, a gain of US$30.20.
