Canadian Financial Close: TSX, C$ End Week Higher

WINNIPEG, January 22 – The Canadian dollar continued to strengthen against the US dollar Friday. Favourable domestic data and improving oil prices boosted the loonie to end the week.
The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7067 or US$1 = C$1.4150.
The TSX jumped Friday, buoyed by higher crude-oil prices.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 353.72 points, or 2.94%, to 12,389.58.
Canada’s agricultural sector performed as follows:

Agrium Incorporated———-up $ 0.80 at $124.32
Buhler Industries————– $ 0.00 at $ 5.00
Maple Leaf Foods————-up $ 0.51 at $ 22.68
Potash Corp. of Sask———dn $ 0.02 at $ 22.78
