Winnipeg, Feb. 13 – The Canadian dollar was trading at a slightly firmer level compared to its US counterpart at midday Wednesday.

At 11:59 CST Wednesday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9985, or US$1=C$1.0015, which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.9973, or US$=C$1.0027.

The Canadian currency was only slightly higher as some traders were on the sidelines ahead of a G20 meeting this upcoming weekend.

US retail sales data came in positive, but in line with expectations, and only provided a little bit of support for the Canadian unit.

There was no significant Canadian economic data to report on Wednesday.

The Toronto Stock Exchange was down 0.94 points, or 0.01%, at 11:59 CST Wednesday, to sit at 12,788.08.
