By Commodity News Service Canada
Winnipeg, August 19 – The Canadian dollar was flat with its US
counterpart at midday Monday, as a lack of US or Canadian economic news
subdued trading, market watchers said.
Traders are awaiting Wednesday’s release of the minutes from the
Federal Open Market Committee, analysts said. It’s expected that the
minutes will give traders insight on when the US Federal Reserve hopes
to slow its monetary stimulus.
At 11:45 CDT Monday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9670
or US$1.0341, which compares with Friday’s North American close of
US$0.9672, or US$=$1.0339.
At 11:45 CDT Monday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was down 68.95
points to sit at 12,667.97.
