Winnipeg, August 27 – The Canadian dollar was flat against its US
counterpart at midday Tuesday, due to slowed trading because of a lack
of fresh Canadian and US economic news, market watchers said.
The loonie was down earlier in the morning, undermined by poor
global risk sentiment due to tension in Syria, but gains seen in
commodities, including gold, copper and crude oil, limited those
losses.
At 11:28 CDT Tuesday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9521
or US$1.0503, which compares with Monday’s North American close of
US$0.9521, or US$=$1.0503.
At 11:28 CDT Tuesday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was down 79.17
points to sit at 12,681.13.
