Canadian Forex Midday: C$ strengthens
By Commodity News Service Canada
Winnipeg, January 13 – The Canadian dollar was stronger against
its US counterpart at midday Monday, reversing some of the losses seen
Friday, which were due to weaker-than-expected Canadian economic data,
industry watchers said.
The loonie was given a boost by a favourable Canadian economic
outlook from the Bank of Canada’s quarterly business outlook survey,
participants said.
Gains seen in commodities, including gold and copper, added to the
bullish tone.
At 11:27 CST Monday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9201
or US$1.0868, which compares with Friday’s North American close of
US$0.9173, or US$=$1.0901.
At 11:27 CST Monday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was down 13.60
points to sit at 13,733.92.
