Winnipeg, MB, February 11, 2014 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar
was stronger against its US counterpart at midday Tuesday, as traders
positioned themselves ahead of the federal government’s 2014/15 fiscal
year budget, which is scheduled to be released late Tuesday afternoon,
industry watchers said.
Spillover from the large gains seen in gold added to the bullish
tone, participants said.
At 11:42 CST Tuesday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9071
or US$1.1024, which compares with Monday’s North American close of
US$0.9046, or US$=$1.1055.
At 11:42 CST Tuesday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was up 102.77
points to sit at 13,896.95.
