Canadian Forex Midday: C$ strengthens significantly
By Commodity News Service Canada
Winnipeg, December 30 – The Canadian dollar was significantly
stronger against its US counterpart at midday Monday, as trading was
quiet ahead of Wednesday’s New Year’s Day holiday, industry watchers
said.
The Canadian dollar strengthened after falling to a near three-
year low earlier in the session, brokers said.
However, losses seen in commodities, including gold, copper and
crude oil, limited the loonie’s upside.
At 11:30 CST Monday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9394
or US$1.0645, which compares with Friday’s North American close of
US$0.9342, or US$=$1.0704.
No major Canadian economic data is scheduled to be released during
the week.
At 11:30 CST Monday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was down 3.14
points to sit at 13,584.84.
