Canadian Forex Midday: C$ strengthens slightly

Winnipeg, December 31 – The Canadian dollar was slightly stronger
against its US counterpart at midday Tuesday, as trading was relatively
quiet ahead of the New Year’s Day holiday on Wednesday, industry
watchers said.
Gains seen in commodities, including gold and copper, were bullish
for the loonie.
At 11:13 CST Tuesday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.9402
or US$1.0636, which compares with Monday’s North American close of
US$0.9398, or US$=$1.0640.
No major Canadian economic data is scheduled to be released
during the week.
At 11:13 CST Tuesday, the Toronto Stock Exchange was up 54.84
points to sit at 13,636.23.
