By Commodity News Service Canada
Winnipeg, MB, January 15, 2013 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar was unchanged compared to its US counterpart at midday Tuesday.
At 11:54 CST Tuesday, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$1.0165, or US$1=C$0.9838, which compares with Monday’s North American close of US$1.0165, or US$=C$0.9838.
The Canadian currency remained unchanged on Tuesday amid mixed commodities, as crude oil prices were lower and gold and copper values moved to higher ground.
A report from the Canadian Real Estate Association showing that existing home sales were down 0.5% in December put a little bit of downward pressure on the Canadian unit, according to traders.
The Toronto Stock Exchange was up 21.21 points, or 0.17%, at 11:54 CST Tuesday, to sit at 12,624.40.
