CWB deadlines approach with end of crop year July 31

The Canadian Wheat Board is reminding farmers that the 2009-10 crop year ends on July 31, which is the deadline for several grain delivery, cash advance and Producer Payment Options programs.

In its weekly bulletin, the CWB says farmers are encouraged to deliver their accepted tonnage on all classes and grades of wheat and durum. There is near record space in primary elevators across Western Canada as year-end approaches. Farmers who cannot deliver due to excess rainfall conditions should contact their Farm Business Representative (FBR) to discuss alternate arrangements. Find your local FBR at or call 1-800-275-4292.

The CWB said sign-up for the 2010-11 Early Payment Option (EPO) starts Aug. 3. An EPO allows farmers to lock in an early payment value equal to 80, 90 or 100 per cent of the Pool Return Outlook, minus a discount.  A minimum durum guarantee of 80 per cent is in place for both the 2010-11 FPCPlus and 2010-11 EPO programs. These guarantees remain in place until Series A acceptance levels are announced this fall.

Sign-up of tonnage for the 2010-11 FlexPro program is available until July 30 at 9 p.m. CDT. Pricing for the program is now underway to provide farmers a price signal to assist in determining tonnage commitments. FlexPro is designed to help farmers meet their business needs all year round through a daily cash price contract for wheat. For more information, go to, and then select 2010-11 FlexPro.
