Glacier FarmMedia COVID-19 & the Farm

Farm journalist Adrian Ewins, 58

A memorial gathering will be held Friday in Saskatoon for Western Producer reporter Adrian Ewins, who died Thursday of complications from cancer.

Ewins, 58, travelled with his family from England to Woodstock, Ont. as a youth and entered the journalism field, coming to work for the Producer over 30 years ago.

Ewins, who covered the grain industry from the weekly farm paper’s Saskatoon newsroom, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1989.

“His many close friends and colleagues enjoyed his sharp wit — he could put a humorous turn on anything — and his breadth of knowledge,” his obituary in Saskatoon’s StarPhoenix newspaper said Saturday.

A come-and-go gathering is to be held Sept. 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lower Hall at Saskatoon’s Windsor Chapel, 704 Windsor St. at Eighth Avenue North.

Donations in Ewins’ memory may be made to the palliative care unit at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, where he passed away Sept. 22.
