Man. equipment maker back at work after fire

A southwestern Manitoba company making loader attachments for the farm market is back to normal operations at a temporary site after its shop burned in mid-March.

Agromec Industries, a manufacturer of front-end loader, telehandler and skid-steer loader attachments, has set up temporary space at the Glendale Industries building on the north side of Brandon.

The company said in a recent email that it will operate at the Brandon site during reconstruction work at its shop about 35 km northwest of the city, near Rivers, Man.

RCMP reported March 16 that the company’s Rivers-area building had been “heavily damaged” in an early morning fire.

No one was injured in the blaze, for which neither the cause nor a total tally of damages has yet been released.

Agromec makes products such as buckets, grapples, snow blades, snow blowers and various types of equipment to handle items such as bales, silage, feed and manure.

The company also imports loader attachments from Emily, a manufacturer in northwestern France, and hydraulic connectors and coupling plates from Stucchi, a manufacturer in northern Italy.
