Farmers can get up to 100 free new decals to keep notes on their farm machinery about regularly scheduled maintenance, through a nationwide farm safety program.

The vinyl decals can be written on with a ballpoint pen to record the date, work summary and initials of the person doing the work, as a reminder for regular maintenance.

The Canadian Federation of Agriculture announced the sticker campaign Wednesday. The CFA partnered with Pioneer Hi-Bred, the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to print and distribute the decals.

The 2007 Canadian Agricultural Safety campaign was themed “Protect your moving parts!” with a focus on pinch points, crushes, entanglements and the importance of proper guarding at those points.

The decals are intended to serve as a quick reminder, while full maintenance records should be kept in a farm’s machinery maintenance log book, CFA noted.

Businesses, organizations and individuals can ask for up to 100 decals for free by sending an e-mail to the CFA or by calling 613-822-0016.
