Long range forecast calls for warm fall: Environment Canada

Environment Canada – Warmer than normal temperatures are expected across the Canadian Prairies over the next three months, with average precipitation, according to the latest long range seasonal forecast from Environment Canada, released Sept. 30.

The government agency calls for a 50 to 60 per cent chance of above normal temperatures from October through December through all the agricultural regions of Western Canada. Precipitation is expected to be normal across most of the growing regions, aside from a small corner of southwestern Alberta where there is a 40 per cent chance of above normal rainfall.

The major farming areas of Eastern Canada from Ontario through the Maritime provinces have a 40 to 50 per cent chance of above normal temperatures, according to the forecast. Average to slightly below average precipitation is forecast.
